Engine - Camshaft - Repair (G30) (2 Of 3)
- 11 31 Camshaft
- 11 31 032 Remove and install/replace the left intake camshaft (M550i xDrive, 2020-2022)
- 11 31 034 Remove and install/replace the right intake camshaft (M550i xDrive, 2018-2019)
- Connecting return spring with special tool
- Release the sliding block
- Remove roller cam follower with magnet
- Release the intake camshaft bearing caps of the intake camshaft 1 to 4
- Camshaft identification
- Check the Teflon ring
- Replace the Teflon rings
- Insert the intake camshafts 1 to 4
- Securing intake camshaft bearing caps of intake camshaft 1 to 4
- Installing the roller cam follower with the magnet
- Hooking the return spring into the special tool
- Positioning the return spring ends on special tool
- Preload return spring with the special tool
- Securing the special tool
- Fasten the sliding block
- 11 31 034 Remove and install/replace the right intake camshaft (M550i xDrive, 2020-2022)
- 11 31 036 Remove and install/replace the left exhaust camshaft (M550i xDrive, 2018-2019)
- Turn the engine backward
- Removing the chain tensioner of cylinders 1-4
- Check the timing of cylinders 5 to 8
- Central bolt, cylinders 5-8, exhaust
- Central bolt, cylinders 5-8, intake
- Removing the VANOS central valve 5 to 8 for the exhaust
- Check the VANOS central valve
- Releasing the exhaust camshaft bearing caps on the intake camshaft 5-8
- Check the Teflon ring
- Replace the Teflon rings
- Insert exhaust camshafts 5 to 8
- Mounting the special tool on the intake camshaft for cylinders 5 through 8
- Mounting the special tool on the exhaust camshaft for cylinders 5 through 8
- Adjust the timing for cylinder 5 to 8 (cylinder head removed)
- 11 31 036 Remove and install/replace the left exhaust camshaft (M550i xDrive, 2020-2022)
- 11 31 038 Remove and install/replace the right exhaust camshaft (M550i xDrive, 2018-2019)
- Turn the engine backward
- Removing the chain tensioner of cylinders 1-4
- Checking the timing at cylinders 1-4
- Central bolt cylinders 1-4 intake
- Central bolt, cylinders 1-4, exhaust
- Removing the VANOS central valves 1 to 4 exhaust
- Check the VANOS central valve
- Releasing the exhaust camshaft bearing caps on the intake camshaft 1-4
- Check the Teflon ring
- Replace the Teflon rings
- Insert the exhaust camshafts 1 to 4
- Securing the intake camshaft bearing caps on intake camshaft 1-4
- Mounting the special tool on the exhaust camshaft for cylinders 1 through 4
- Adjust the timing for cylinder 1 to 4 (cylinder head removed)
- 11 31 038 Remove and install/replace the right exhaust camshaft (M550i xDrive, 2020-2022)
- 11 31 051 Replacing the timing chain (530i, 2017-2022)
- 11 31 051 Replacing the timing chain (530i xDrive, 2017-2022)
